The play is a dramatic comedy that tackles issues including motherhood, marital strife, and PMDD, but with a healthy luster of comedy and snappy dialogue. The play is meant to be cathartic for people with periods, and gives folks a rare chance to laugh out loud in public at what otherwise makes them cry silently and privately.

About Ragtime Players:
Kent Dwyer and Liz Zimmerman met as teenagers at the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts on South Broad Street where they were in many of the same creative writing classes. After graduation, Liz went on to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she earned a BFA in Dramatic Writing and Trinity College Dublin where she earned a Master’s in Theater and Performance studies.. Kent attended Philadelphia’s University of the Arts where he studied Playwriting. Period House is the first writing or theater project Kent and Liz are creating together.
Kent and Liz have roped in another CAPA creative writing alum to work on the production team. Jess Kalup is a marketing professional who will be leading fundraising and promotion activities. All three live and work in Philadelphia. The 3-person production team represents a range of people in our colorful city: Kent is gay, Jess is non-white and queer.
Director Kelci Schlierf is a new collaborator of Ragtime Players and an up-and coming director here in Philadelphia. She is an advocate for social change and believes in creating work that reflects that. She is the Associate Artistic Director of Sewer Rat Productions, of which she is also a founding member.
