Sarah Billings
Director | Writer | Designer
Sarah Billings is a multidisciplinary theatre artist and educator. She started working with the Rats as a collaborator in early 2020 before being generously welcomed into the core team and given the opportunity to direct and design costumes and masks for
Edmonton, the Sewer Rats’ return to live theatre in 2022. She is now the Associate Artistic Director of Sewer Rats. Sarah studied theatre and playwriting at Barnard College and devised theatre at Bard College Berlin. Her first play, Cold Whole Milk, was performed at Barnard College under her own direction and later again under the direction of Rhenn Thole at the University of Minnesota St. Cloud. She is often found teaching theatre and creative writing to children in order to promote the betterment of mankind through art and to make a little bit of money. With her partner Evelyn Richardson, Sarah is a co-founder of Worthy Tales Magazine, a publication of new and interesting genre fiction in the tradition of turn-of-the-century pulps. She is currently the poetry editor, proofreader, and typesetter for the magazine. Both outside of and through her work with Sewer Rats, she finds it important to work across varied creative disciplines, within and without the theatre, always finding that each one informs and develops every other. |
